Whilst I can certainly sympathise with pub owners getting screwed ever tighter by more regulation, I think that in some scottish towns people have just got sick of the behaviour of drunks. Whilst some of them may be drinking take aways from off licenses and supermarkets, the majority of them are coming out of pubs. The law is supposed to be that you don't serve people who are visibly drunk - how any of these happy hour and BOGOF promotions fit with that is a mystery. They might be not that drunk when they buy them, but they soon will be after 10 vodka red bulls at a pound each. I feel irresponsible pub owners have themselves to blame for these regulations.
