So I have found a great job for a management couple/two people to run a small hotel in the Corn Islands unfortunately I don't have the other half to go do this!

My dream is to open my own guest house/hostel again in Nicaragua and I would like to do this with a business partner to share responsibility so this would seem like a great opportunity to test whether two people could work well together before investing heavily in a venture.

If anyone else would be interested to share management duties on a beautiful caribbean Island then please let me know. I have experience of most of the duties so am happy to cover whatever - having someone to free up time and share the day to day running to enjoy the surroundings is the main thing.

This is the basis of the job:

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, responsible couple or two friends to manage the day-to-day activity of a 13-room hotel on a beautiful, remote Caribbean Island.

The ideal applicants will have outstanding people skills and a desire to create a wonderful experience for guests – including assisting them with planning their time on the island.

In this role, you will be responsible for Guest Relations & Activities, Reservations, Basic Accounting, and Management of a small staff. Maintenance support is available, but ideally one of the couple should have general maintenance and repair skills, whilst the other should have administrative and front-of-house skills. Both need to enjoy being great hosts and creating a friendly, home-away-from-home atmosphere.

This is a hands-on managerial role ideally suited to a professional, motivated, energetic, couple who have the ability to problem solve. The desire to live on a small, remote island with beautiful beaches, no roads, no motorized vehicles, and without 24-hour electricity is also a must.

Compensation is a monthly salary that allows you to comfortably live in Nicaragua, a fully furnished apartment with 24-hour power, wifi and hot water – and the priceless experience of living in a truly unique paradise.

For how long?
What is the amount to "comfortably live in Nicaragua"?
Could one person do the whole job? (sounds to me like a 13 room would be possible).
Most tourists are from where?
Just hotel or restaurant and bar too?
Other services? kayak, snorkeling, etc etc

The seconf half of the ad was not mine - I don't want someone to run the guest house as it is not mine - I was asking if anyone would like to go with me to work as a two person team as a sort of trial run for being business partners.

The description was there to give an idea of what to expect.

So I don't have any more info to give you.

I have a degree in International Tourism Development and a Diploma in Outdoor Adventure and Ecotourism. I've been looking to start a hostel in Nicaragua or Central America and although I have a good amount of money saved I don't have enough money to do it on my own. Jojoz, I like your initiative and creativity on this! Not only did you find a way to meet the requirements of the job you wanted (two people rather than just yourself) but you also turned it into a recruitment and trial run for a future business partner. Nicely done!

I looked at corn islands myself but Im not sure its that economically viable ?

However Im very curious about this discussion as an investor in ecotourism development in NICA.

Curious as this was a year ago, what your doing now and where the discussion is?

I didn't manage to get this going apparently in part because the only message I got notified of was the first one so had no idea anyone was actually interested! What a bummer that I only see the other messages now a year too late. Ah well

I am still hoping to start a guest house and whilst Nica is probably my favourite place to head I was going into business with my Burmese friend - though that has been shelved because of the current political mess that is going on there.

So currently back in the UK working for other people to get more experience so when I do venture out on my own I know better what I'm doing wherever I'll be doing it.

Nica maybe back on the table!

Hi Jojoz,

If/when interested I own a 2000 m2 beachfront lot in Little Corn Island (12º16’52”N, 82º58’37”W) still to be developed. Open to business partnership proposals and willing to stay and work there for some 6 months per year.
