Currently the staff I manage have been putting the bottom sheet on each bed for clients during the morning clean up, and handing the other sheet with the key during check-in. Do you think this is necessary?
I'm wondering if clients even care and it seems to add time away from the front desk.

In my case, we put the bottom sheet, the other sheet and the sheet with the quilt, we do almost everything that when guests arrive, is everything ok...
But this is the Portuguese operational organization, because all Portuguese hostels do llike this (majority...).
One pro I see is that if a guest arrives late, he still have to do his bed and mayeb, some noise doing it... The other guest wouln't like it very much...

Late night arrival makes sense. Almost all hostels I've stayed at in my past just gave me two sheets and a bunk number and that's it, I wonder if my perception is common. I also wonder if not putting on the sheets would diminish business.

We make the entire bed (bottom sheet, top one and cover). It's been something that guests really appreciated ... It was a big plus for us and despite it takes more time to finish a room, it makes large dorms look way cleaner

We also make the beds with two sheets, a blanket, and a towel on each one. Even if the guests arrive at a reasonable hour they may just want to crash immediately after a long trip. If the bed is ready when they get here, then they can fall right in.

I have only one concern though, how do you resolve if a guest packs her stuff on someone else's reserved bed? :confused:

I'm still in the Stone-age where I expect people to bring their own bedding - we do have a few sheets and blankets for those without.
But then I am lucky; bedding not required here most of the time as it's too damn hot!
Just to upset you some more - 24 degrees here today, everyone in T-shirts - it is expected to get warmer.

I am now weary of beds fully made up, I was at place that didn't change the linen when a guest left, they only sprayed it with fabric cleaner and re-folded the duvet. :mad:

We make up our beds completely (fitted bottom sheet, duvet cover, and pillowcase) we ask the guests to strip the beds in the morning, as it helps get the laundry going, most do, but some don't. It adds a lot housework, but makes the rooms look nicer. The bottom line to me is that you have to try and go just that little further. Whilst keeping costs under control. I think people appreciate it compared to being handed a few sheets when they check in (or the dreaded sheet sleeping bag of old)

Do you change and wash all bed linen every day for every guest? Or, if a guest stay a week, for example, do you change and wash his bed linen say, for example, only twice during the week?
Also, how do you deal with guests who like to get up late and make it hard to strip their beds? Do you wait and come later when the guest has got up or simply don't strip the bed on that day?
