Are there any Greek hostel owners who can tell me about some of the laws and regulations in Greece as I hear it is rather difficult to open a hostel in Greece. Also I hear that "hostels in greece need to be non-profit as well? is this true ?
So if there are any Greek Hostels owners who can advise that would be great.

Hello, can you please explain how are you going to open hostel in Athens legally? With what permission? I'm also in process, but in the other area of Greece. There is a general law and we are still waiting for details, are you going to take permission from EOT?

now you can open hostel. I have spoke with the people who are working on the hostel details and have mentioned that the specs will be simple.
The above link is in Greek. Are you greek? Where do you plan to operate? Soon the details for above law will come out but on the meantime you can operate under a different permit. There are numerous properties that have opened before the above law and all must operate under different permits (hotel etc)even though they advertise as hostels. If the details of the law will not come out soon as is normal in greece I will also operate as a property that can be licensed until I can convert legally to a Hostel license. (clearly I am not sure that the specs will be simple or staightforward)
