I'm a new night manager and have this as a reoccurring problem... What exactly is the proper hostel etiquette with guests bringing home the bar floozy and getting it on?
What are other hostels policy with this problem?

If theyre in a private room, go nuts. If its a dorm however, sorry but no dice. Only paid and registered guests in dorms, full stop.
The trick comes if they then want to check in... this problem can usually be solved by saying there are reservations for the other beds in the dorm and we cant give away those beds until the next morning. Thats always worked for me.

They have to be registered guests, and of course you have to consider the other people in the room. We had an incident where four people were all going at it at once in a 12 bed dorm room...we asked them all to leave in the end as they were keeping the rest of the dorm awake (and cringing).
Being firm and fair has always worked for me. If they start getting angry, just keeping the same tone and eye contact usually calms them down.
