Hi , I am a long time traveler who is looking to settle in somewhere a bit . I'm looking to open a hostel in the Philippines preferably Palawan . I have a bit of capital and am looking to be extremely hands on in both the construction and management. I have worked my whole life in tourism from being a whitewater rafting guide to BBQ pitmaster and kitchen manager at a ski resort . I also have experience in building trades

As a foreigner you cannot own a business 100%...you need to have local partners who own 40%. Likewise foreigners cannot own land either.
There are ways around this...but it can also be a surefire way to lose your money. Spend a couple of months there first before making any big decisions

I know the laws and that's part of the reason I'm on here looking for partners . I also have spent a bit of time there and do plan on spending more before I make any decisions . I appreciate your concern and the Info , Thank you

Just be careful who you partner with. Im sure you also realise how foreigners can be viewed there. Likewise for locals who have worked overseas in the US/UK/ etc and return back to live there.
