Hostel Power Plug-Ins
Anyone have additional .dll plugins for hostelpower? We currently are only using the hostelworld plugin, bu would love to get gomio, hb, etc.
If not, would any other owners/managers be interested in pooling together to hire a programmer to write new ones?

Oh yeah, if you know how to code you can write any plug in that you want. Hostelpower advertises this. They don't provide any documentation for doing so, but they say if you know visual basic, it can be done easily. This is everyones answer to a system that can synch with as many booking sites as you want, we just have to find someone to write the .dll's.

I think I might have it, from when Gomio did an update earlier this year...they may or may not still work...I will look for it and post them if I can find it.

OK, I found it. I only have the Gomio one, as we stopped using Hostelpower a while ago, since it stopped being developed. Shame, so much beautiful potential.

for the record,
we didnot stop developing hostelpower but we had a new search engine and a newly build server so what we are doing is that we are changing hostelpower to a new more reliable program, and we have been developing new plugins since hostelsclub have changed their search engine and hostelworld have add more security certificates to their site, and about the plugins you can send me an email and i can send you the plugin that you want,
we also offer to develop a new plugin for free for your booking engine if you have an xml webservice on your booking engine provider ,you should provide us with details, we also help programmers develop a plugin for hostelpower for free if anyone needs any plugin details or support for hostelpower we are more than happy to help out

This is indeed good news. I do like hostelpower, but it just wasn't reliable enough for us. So much work has obviously gone into it, it would be a shame to see it go to waste. Please keep us updated on its progress in these forums, I for one will be willing to give it another go in the future.

we didnot stop developing hostelpower...
Hostelpower is programmed in .NET? I'm not sure if this is possible, but have you ever considered porting it to Mono so it could run on all operating systems? (Mac, Linux, Windows)

HostelsClub no longer owns the rights to HostelPower due to non-payment (for the full story see http://www.hostelsclubfail.com)
I am the developer and owner of HostelPower and I am very unhappy with how HostelsClub was managing HP for the past year.
In the future for HP I promise much improved support, a much reduced price (free for anyone that cancels their listing on HostelsClub), and if there is a wish to have open documentation regarding the plug-in architecture, I will post it here, give me a few days to organize it and make it more easily understandable.
Unfortunately due to the problems with HostelsClub regarding licensing and due to Hostelworld's refusal to provide an open API, we will be removing the current plug-ins from the system, and only providing a library of shared 3rd party plug-ins. If you are seriously interested in building plug-ins for HostelPower, I can answer any questions you might have. Plug-ins can be written in any .NET language (C#, VB, C++, even F# and many others).
Please contact me at if you would like more information.
