We are opening a ski lodge end of this year and are researching on options for booking systems and management systems.
Can anyone recommend anything?
For some scope - we will be a small lodge only operating seasonally (4/5 months of the year).
We have 10 rooms with 20-25 people occupancy.
We will not require an auto booking direct from the webiste. We will be using a form (old school!) and instant bookings only through other providers.
We basically just want a (free or very cheap) calander booking system that will store our guest details and organise the dates.
We dont want monthly subscriptions and prefer an off line system for Mac.
Basically just a calander booking/tracking system I guess? We want to manually imput the bookings into the system as they come in.
Any recommendations on what we can use?
We could build our own and use Xcel as we have so few rooms but it would be nice to have something better to ensure accurace no over booking etc.

Hey,
That seems like a doable request. Personally, I'd check out Cloudbased or web-based options that you can utilize from anywhere at any point. Did a quick search and found a Wordpress calendar that fits pretty well (http://wpbookingcalendar.com/) ...you could add that on to your website as one of the backend pages that only admins can access.
Good luck on opening the ski lodge! Where are you looking to open? I'll have to put it on my list of ski areas to visit!

I use Google Sheets.
Free, You can set permissions, and it's easy and simple to use before you decide to invest in a proper system.
I've used Google sheets to manage a hostel of 150 beds. It was hectic, But completely doable.

I am looking for a open source online free software (not gdocs) for hostle management. Mine is small and we have only 20 beds. Only one to 2 user will be using it

There are many little-known software apps that meet your requirements but it is difficult to find out. Here are some tools that comes to my mind.
QLO
QLO is a free and open source-app with a wide range of features. It can meet all the needs you mentioned on your post. You can use it for offline reservation managemet but it also allow you to connect with your website. Althgouth it is free, you can also donate some bucks if you wish to make improve the app.
OTA Hotel Management
OTA hotel management is one of the popular tools and I have seen it recommended by many people other discussion groups.
An offiline management tool will be enough for you now. Biut you will soon need a cloud hotel management system software with inventory distribution and channel manager features for your hostel as more and more people began to rely online travel agents to book rooms. It is better to build a strong presense and reputation on major OTAs now.
