Ok, we've been using the trial version of Hostelpower recently and it is a pretty good system. It's not without its bugs of course - par for the course with any new software, especially one designed part-time - but its got a lot of promise.
However, we've been trying to decide whether to stick with it and a big part of that is knowing what sort of developments are going to occur as time goes on. As it turns out, the developers have sold it to a 'hostel booking website' - anybody heard about this? On one hand id guess it was hostelbookers in an attempt to create a competitor to backpack (which, with a bit of cash and time it would certainly be a better system). On the other, Gomio would be the other possibility - especially given that theyre now pushing it on their website, giving away the stand-alone version free.
So, anybody heard any gossip? Id me much more inclined to stick with it if i thought it was going to have proper resources thrown at it but right now there are just a few too many niggling little errors. Nothing too bad, just annoying - but then, can anyone claim they love every aspect of their management software? Is anyone here from or connected to Gomio or HB taht might be able to shed a little light on the matter? our american/polish based developers are being pretty tight-lipped about it all...
