Hostels and GDS connection

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you are connected to GDS' (like Amadeus, Sabre etc.). How does it really work and what are the comissions?

We have a chance to give an offer for an huge bidding and they basically require GDS connection. We have currently all the OTA reservation (~15 channels) imported directly to our PMS, so wouldn't like to go back on manual updating of availability.

So I would love to hear some discussion about GDS, are they bringing any new business, what are the costs and what would be the easiest way (for you) to connect. All discussion welcome!

Did you end up connecting to a GDS to get the bidding?

Some channel managers will connect to the various GDS’ (Global Distribution Systems). As far as I know, that option is only available for hotels and resorts with more than 20 rooms through MyAllocator, but I don’t know about the other channel managers.

I am also curious to hear if anyone is using a GDS to sell their beds and what their experience has been. So far no hostel operator has told me that they are working with a GDS, but maybe it just hasn't come up in conversation.
