Hostels with Skype phones

Does anyone know if Skype phones can take incoming Skype calls? For example, if you add a Skype button to your website will clicking that button call the Skype phone at the front desk?

It seems like it would be awkward for the front desk to have to put on a Skype headset every time someone calls the hostel over Skype, but if Skype dialed into a physical phone it might work well.

So one question,

I really like the idea and iam actually right now trying to do this, but i have a couple of question

a) what phone do you need to use this system.
b) Do you need the phone to be connected to a computer or just to the modem
c) do they take wi-Fi connections
d) As i understand, you need to connect using your user, so if the phone is not connected to the computer, how do you log in
e) Is 10.000 minutes enough for a 55 bed hostel....how about a 150 bed hostel ?

a) what phone do you need to use this system.

There are several phones that will work with Skype. The shop on the Skype website lists some but there are others.

b) Do you need the phone to be connected to a computer or just to the modem

Some plug into your computer, others plug directly into the modem and some are Wi-Fi. The ones that plug into your computer are the cheapest.

There are also some that run over the Three Mobile network so you don't even need the internet.

c) do they take wi-Fi connections

Some of them do, but they cost more. You can also run the Skype app on the iPhone or iPod Touch over Wi-Fi.

d) As i understand, you need to connect using your user, so if the phone is not connected to the computer, how do you log in

The phones are designed for Skype so they have a screen where you can log in to your account. You should also be able to see which of your contacts are online.

e) Is 10.000 minutes enough for a 55 bed hostel....how about a 150 bed hostel ?

That sounds like a lot, but I'm not an expert. May be other people have an idea about this.
