One thing that can slow down the front desk is sorting through a lot of email spam every day. One solution that I like is a combination of SpamAssassin and Thunderbird. Both programs are free.

I just started a Wiki page about how to control email spam that explains the basic method. That Wiki page is just an outline -- feel free to edit what I've written and add your own tips.

I would say the best way to avoid spam is by adopting a GMail account. Their antispam algorithm is second to none. I use GMail for like 6 years now and I believe I have received like 3 spam messages so far. What happens is they filter spam mail away. Still if some spam somehow manages to go through, you can mark it as spam so it learns to mark it as spam next time.

Even safer would be to browse gmail online instead of downloading e-mails.
