Here is what our night staff do... http://nomadshostels.com/biz/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=19
hi there im curious to know what do u make to do to your night receptionist and hw is long the night shift? cause i ws thinking about some things that he could do but also to give him the possibility to relax some hours keeping an eye half open...i mean there are many things to do during the night shift like switching off all the lights and pcs or watering the plants and then make everythings ready for the breakfast and of course check the sefety of the hostels...but i also was thinking and i have been a doorman for a couple of years maybe it's a nice thing to have a kind of army bed in the reception where if he is responsable he could relax a bit....especially between death hours like 3-5 where no one has to check ut and all dues are done....what do u think? what your doorman does in the night?

Hi, Shannon
I wonder if, at your hostels, you have a written program/schedule as detailed for the daytime shifts as you have for the night shifts. I ask because I would expect that during the daytime it is harder to program your time, with guests coming in an out at every moment, and making harder for staff to leave the reception desk.
If you have a written program/schedule for the daytime shifts, could you also show it, please?

How big is your hostel, liznera?
I believe you should first understand yourself what would you want your night shift to do.
When I used to do night audit I had a special check list, custom one which I made myself. Of course I was provided with the "official guide" that had pretty much everything there but after couple of shifts I did change it a little bit. Of course that did not affect anyhow the results and the tasks that I had to accomplish, it just made my work easier as I tailored it a little bit.
What does your night auditor do at the moment? How many hours? Is this too much for him? What would you like to change?
