I think these videos are great because they give the viewer a reason to visit that destination.

A hostel can optimize a website to come up in Google for keywords relating to its city, but there's also an opportunity to reach backpackers before they decide what their actual destinations are. Hostels can give backpackers a reason to stop in a specific city or town.

Besides videos, two other methods for reaching backpackers in the trip planning stage are through online travel guides and blogs directly on hostel websites. That content can then be spread through Google and through "word of mouth" on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
