In that case, it doesn't seem like the perfect name.
LOL. It's still perfect to me! My concern is how others will view it.
if there is a chain of the hostels
is it better to have the same name for them ?
is the name much helps to fish the backpacker to the hostel ?
i noticed some names help to fish better than others
lets say '' sleepcheap hostel'' or '' the best from the best hostel'' or
'' down town hostel''
what if one borrows the name from the famous
experienced successful hostels ?
is it permitted ?
what if the hostel will borrow the name from the '' hotels '' which have very good reputation and weight ?
would it sounds good to call the hostel '' Delta'' or '' ibis'' or ''NH'' ?
WOULD IT WORK OUT FOR THE PRESTIGE OF THE HOSTEL to call it by the bname borrowed from these types of hotels chains ?
thank you so much

I think if it fits the character and the design, then why not go with it?
Retro is still a nice ongoing trend and you can still create a youthful vibe around...
Do you think it catches enough attention though?

Thanks, I really feel the name fits the character and the design of the building very well. And like you said, I hope to create a youthful vibe. Now how would I determine if it catches attention? I'll have to do a survey to find out. :p

Now I'm having second thoughts about my 'perfect' hostel name so I'm thinking about naming the place after two US Presidents. The hostel will be located on a street named after the one President and our area is named after the other so naturally it makes sense. Right? However, both men were assassinated while in office and in the back of my mind the names together sound nice but give me bad vibes, especially after reading their eerie similarities today, on Friday the 13th of all days. LOL. Oh goodness. :(
This is harder than I thought guys. I can't make up my mind. :o

Bush Hostel?

Good. That Bush Hostel wouldn't be such a good name.

Well that would be trademark infringement. Of course there are instances where this has been done, like the Ritz for Backpackers in Melbourne.
Also other hotels have used hotel names before the big chains have trademarked the name in their country. A classic example is Hilton Hotel in the Adelaide suburb or Hilton (Google Street View). This is essentially just a suburban pub and not the international hotel chain you may expect. I'm sure they weren't trying to ride on the reputation of the international hotel chain, they simply followed the unimaginative Australian custom of naming a pub: "name of town or suburb" + "Hotel".

A UK city with no hostels - intrigued!
Let me guess. Leeds or Sheffield? Two UK cities that both need a hostel.

I would advise against a generic name like "name of city" + "Hostel". It is not unique enough and when other hostels start to open in your city there is a good chance that some of them will have very similar names.
Also if you build up a reputation for a quality hostel and decide to open a new hostel in another city you will have to build a new brand from stratch.
It is better to follow the convention of "adjective" + "animal" to get something like:
Chunky Chicken
Funky Chicken
Black Sheep
Mad Cow
Purple Cow
Angry Aardvark
It's quite a popular way of naming hostels so try and find one that isn't already used. There are three Black Sheep that I can think of and they all claim to be "out standing in their field". BTW Funky Chicken and Purple Cow are also taken.
The only advantage of a generic name is that it is more likely to do well on search engine results. But you can get around this by registering "adjective-animal-city-backpackers-hostel.com" and also registering the easier-to-remember and type "adjectiveanimal.com" to put on your flyers.

anxious penguin
frolicking lamb
suicidal camel
all dance moves created here at the caledonian... but would make good hostel names... except suicidal camel... maybe the 'weary camel' or something along those lines...

or Thirsty Camel, except that's taken too. It's a chain of drive-through bottle shops.
