What boardgames do you think hostels should invest in?

We used to play a lot of TSR boardgames when I was a kid that seem to be out of print -- like They've Invaded Pleasantville, King of the Tabletop (free download), Saga, and Car Wars. Not sure how they would hold up 25 years later though :)
Anyone played them before?

Just wondering how much do I need to set aside in my budget to replace boardgames ?
Like how often do I need to replace them due to theft/general wear and tear, every year? Every two years?

I am still in the planning stages of making a hostel, at places I have stayed myself, boardgames and cards do add to the fun of it all but I've only thought now how often do they have to replace?

Do some hostels put them behind the front desk?

Also how about video games , Xboxes / Playstations etc.
Do guests respect them?

Your thoughts much appreciated.

It all depends on your guests. Most guests are very respectful, but there are always one or two who don't care. The main thing is that they are packed away after being used as quickly as possible. As for a budget, I would imagine consider buying one game every three months should cover any replacements, as well as new games introduced.

We have this old 8-bit games in our DVD-player with Supermario and many other games.

Some guests enjoy it alot.

Just wondering what hostels do with the games:
Are the board games freely available or are they locked up and guests need to 'check them out' with a deposit or something similar?

We charge a deposit, or make them leave ID, just so they clean the game up and bring it back.

We require that the guest leave ID, they can collect the ID when they return the guiter or board game.

And then there is "Plakias - the board game" based on life in the hostel. It is, of course, a drinking game.:D
