Does anyone here use spreadsheets for managing hostel bookings? I've just started a Wiki page about it:
I'll start adding content once I get back to the US, but if anyone wants to add some tips before then, feel free to start editing the page.

I don't use a spreadsheet for reservations - being a small hostel (60 beds) I find a diary is sufficient to track reservations.
However, I do use Excel to monitor which guests have paid what, which room they are in, how much they owe on their tab, etc. Very simple to develop yourself and no extra costs in management software.

to be fair the hostelworld online reservation system is free to use if your on hostel world anyway, which is free to join and worth every penny of commission they take usually 10% per booking. They provide a free online reservation system that take cares of everything, room allocation, bills, receipts end of day cash takings, room management the lot.
and like i said.. its free :) very easy to use

Would anyone be willing to share their spreadsheet for bookings?
I am super new and managing 30 beds and am in remote Patagonia location with zero Internet access.
