Just wondering if people would be willing to share the type of forms that they use for Checking Guests in.

Especially where places require deposits or credit card swipe/authorisations and wondering what do you do. I appreciate the law differs greatly all over but what do people do? Do you get guests to sign an undertaking saying their credit card will be charged for any damage caused by them or their guests?

We have a government issued form that includes basic information like name, address, passport number, dates of stay, etc. and we scan their passports and student IDs.

We don't charge credit cards for anything other than purchases. We collect cash deposits from individuals if they borrow locker keys. We take a security deposit in cash from each member of group bookings with the understanding that we will keep the group's full amount if they cause any damage to the hostel. All deposits are labeled with the guest's name / reason for leaving a deposit, and they are kept separate from the hostel's money because if there is a surprise audit from a government official the cash in the register has to equal the total of the day's receipts.
