happy new year!! :D i'm still very interested in exploring some great new hostel management opportunities.
Hi Everyone! I have more than 7 years of experience in the hosteling industry, working at hostels in Brooklyn & Manhattan (New York City), Washington D.C., Montreal, Miami Beach and Berlin. I have worked in various positions, from the very bottom as a non-paid work exchange, all the way to upper management of a large hostel chain company.
I have an extensive working relationship with a large network of hostel managers, hostel companies, travel agencies, travel agents, work exchange companies, tour operators, transportation providers, travel organizations. In addition I have kept in contact with many former partners and clients, which include independent travelers, university groups, religious organizations, and sport organizations that utilize the hostel industry repeatedly every year.
I have thorough understanding of the Youth Travel & Accommodation industry, including booking sources, average occupancy rates, methods to create additional revenue, hostel design and construction, booking management software, advertising, marketing (including social meda strategies), event coordination, hiring of staff, and creation of a good team from scratch, as well as an understanding of the mentality of backpacking travelers. In other words, I really understand hostels and the market dynamics.
I have two degrees, one in Business Administration and another in Cultural Studies (perfect for understanding international travel), both from well known, accredited universities in the United States. I am currently working on my Master's Degree part-time. I have formal training in two other areas as well, computer science and design. I am well versed in computer technology (repairs, installation, software/hardware, IT, networking, both Mac OSX and Windows XP/7); web design (Dreamweaver, HTML, CSS), development (web 2.0 & new start-ups); and graphic design (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign).
I am looking for a paid opportunity to help manage an existing hostel anywhere in the world- or even assist in the business development of a new hostel. Unfortunately, I cannot provide investment capital, but I am open to becoming a consulting partner in new projects. On a similar note, I currently do have work authorization for the United States only. But I am very open to going through any necessary steps for working abroad if it's for the right projects.
If you have a job opening available, please send me a private message, THANKS SO MUCH!
