An "unconference" is like a conference, but participant-driven, low-budget, and informal. The agenda is typically unset.
What do people think about the idea to hold a HostelManagement.com Unconference in November or December?
An unconference is not a typical conference. There wouldn't be any one-way presentations. Hostel managers, employees, and others in the industry would get together for informal discussions and networking. It might be something like this forum, but in person. :)
I picture it as something like a "meetup" -- but the final form depends on what people are interested in.
The point would be to get people from the hostel industry in one place to exchange ideas.

I even tried that! But no luck! :( December 4-8 is a holiday period in Italy and a lot of people are travelling that weekend so it is difficult to find a cheap flight to anywhere :-(

I will attend. I don't know yet how to get there, maybe I will rent a car or I will go by train. Is there somebody who travels from Berlin or Prague or something similar in the area around Dresden so we can share the ride?

Get to Budapest for breakfast, Vienna or Munich (or any points in-between) by lunchtime. Lifts are available right through to the venue.

I did have a quick check on Skyscanner. Not the most convenient solution but at least not impossible (See attachment). You are more than welcome to stay in our hostel in the meantime and I can drive you to Grunau as well.

Maybe you could ask Mathias or anyone from Sir Tobys if they want to come to the event? I know KrazyBackOfficeAnimal is coming but I'll pick him up from Budapest, so I suppose he is coming from Prague by train/bus...
To ensure everyone's safety, I drive a 2ys old Ford Focus now. :D
