I've started a related forum thread about promoting the social aspect of hostels (including dorm beds), and whether hostels & booking engines should work together to promote the social aspects mentioned above.

- hostels offer private rooms as well as dormitories
- many families use hostels
- unlike hotels, many hostels offer free wifi
- the price usually includes free breakfast
- lots of them have restaurants
- you can save time in cities by booking tours at a hostel's tour desk
- some hostels even have swimming pools and saunas
- hostels can be in some extremely interesting locations
- hostels are chic
- for a good night out you don't need to leave the hostel (e.g., bars)
