Ryanair mulls charges for toilets!

I just came across Tim's very useful report on a comparison between Ryanair and Easyjet.

Among several scams there: Easyjet charges £3.50 credit card processing charge -- you cannot avoid this except that you can use a debit card for a bit less. Ryanair charges £4.75 for that -- and then doubles it, because you are paying for 2 flights!!!

And how about this? Easyjet's taxes are included in their advertised fare of £37. Ryanair's taxes are not included: but they come to £45. How come Ryanair's GOVERNMENT AND AIRPORT taxes are more than the whole Easyjet fare including those taxes? Because Ryanair uses a different airport? I always thought they used these out-of-the-way airports (costing much more money and time for surface transport) because they got a cheaper deal???

I'd have to say that although Ryanair's attempts to claw back money through hidden and misleading charges is sometimes laughable, they are by some way the cheapest airline, if that's your most pressing desire. I got tickets for 5 people (incl. 1 infant - £20) one of whom checked in at desk with 1 bag, and paid the £32 debit card fee, and it still came in at £84 return from London to Mallorca in January. No other airlines came anywhere near this, it was at least quadruple that cost.

On the toilet issue, I've read that he won't be installing coin doors:

It'll be credit card instead.

I was wondering how they could make money off a system of payments in the one Pound/Euro/Dollar region - surely the card fees the banks charge would eat up most of that. Maybe you'll have to have an Electron card to use the bathroom?
