Ryanair still working the media controversy:
Anger as Ryanair poll suggests overweight fliers should pay more
I think it was SouthWest Airlines in the US that actually did something like this for a while. If they determined that you were too large to fit a standard seat they charged you for two so as not to make the overcrowded people next to you uncomfortable.
Can you imagine being the employee responsible for telling people they're too fat to occupy only one seat?

So why don't we get blasted with advertising every time we get in a lift? We are a captured audience in many of life's occasions so why does Ryanair think they can change lifes norms and expectations? Because they want to reduce the flight to a series of contracts. They brainstorm norms and expectations of society then exploit their captured audience via their accumulated knowledge.
If Ryanair was truly honourable you would experience some services that would cost them next to nothing to provide. Ryanair would use its power in a way to balance out the exploitation.
Ryanair would say they don't care as people keep booking with them. With high divorce rates I suppose they get repeat customers :)
Booking and flying with Ryanair is good training for doing business in New Europe. Just as country culture changes so has Ryanair changed the airline culture.

Don't think O'Leary would take honourable as a compliment. The only imperitave at Ryanair is squeezing the last penny from everything. In a way I respect them - I hate flying Ryanair, but still do, as they are usually significantly cheaper than even other budget carriers. I think there's a lot of people in the same boat. They'd happily never fly Ryanair again, but keep doing it to save money.
A fun party game is to come up with hypothetical scenarios where they'll lose your custom. Electric prods to speed up boarding? 60% less air than normal? £10 fee to carry on any food at all?

No talk of charges for toilets but O'Leary is still one tough cookie. Interesting half yearly results: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8337232.stm

I would just bring an empty bottle on board and fill it up if the need should arise. :D

What does he do with all these profits? He could always buy Hostelworld if he wanted to so that he can control both the flights and the accommodation!
