Our HostelManagement theme for December is “Industry Expectations: Standing out, while fitting in.” I have to admit, even I thought to myself, “How can I write about such a cliche?” I want my writing to be meaningful, but most of all useful.

The topic this time is: "If I knew then, what I know now"
It's been a long time coming but it's finally happening. Our development team is now doing a complete rebuild of the entire HostelManagement.com site.
As we all know, HostelManagement in it's current form has run it course.
This month our panel discussion will be the topic “If I Knew Then What I Know Now”. While generally I will focus my writing around the chosen topic, I don’t exactly feel qualified to speak up on that one yet.
A 'Virtual Think Tank' was held on April 11th. The live recording is below. Please note some technical difficulties while everyone introduced themselves. The actual discussion starts just before 4 minutes in, and lasts around one hour.
A united campaign has started to increase direct bookings in hostels.
The hostel industry is fragmented, and it is rare that we all manage to join forces and work together
towards the same goal. Despite this, a movement has begun that is rapidly uniting hostels with one

The panel discussion "Meet Your Alternative Hostel OTAs" was streamed live Tues. Feb. 11th @ 18:00 GMT. The discussion included representatives from a few OTAs, fielding questions about their businesses and relations with the hostel industry.
