Hey All,
This is an excellent site and resource. I wish we'd found it sooner.
To Josh's questions:
1) My wife and I are opening a small, green hostel on our own patch of Aussie bush.
2) I worked and travelled in various hostels around the world when I was younger.
3) Too numerous to count - we've loved places from Austria through to New Zealand.

I'm Sebastien from Belgium and I'm a traveller since 2005. I've been to many places but my favorite so far is Southern and East Africa.
This year I complete my bachelor Hotel Management.
The idea of opening a hostel came some two years agoo and I hope after gaining some experience on the working field to open my own.

so I was reading non stop the website content, lots of forum topics to cover yet.
This is an amazing website, big props to everyone who make it happen.
I am interested in opening a hostel around 2012, after I complete my round the world trip. I'm currently saving money and researching all the possibilities.
Do you work at a hostel? Nope.
How did you become interested in hostels? I found it an amazing idea and figured I could come up with some ideas to make a nice hostel
Where are your favorite travel destinations? by far India, my best vacation. It's impressive and intense anyway you look at it.
Do you know of any good places where you think new hostels should be opened up? I believe Florianopolis, Brazil is a place lacking hostels, there are only a few and some cannot be mentioned (dirty bags).

I'm Željko from Belgrade, Serbia and I would like to answer the four questions from the beginning:
- I work for about a month in the newly opened hostel in Belgrade.
- I have become interested in hostels as soon as the possibility to work in hostel came up :)
- Amsterdam (is it really necessary to say why?!) and St. Petersburg, Russia (buildings, people, beer in 1l can, everything there is frightening beautiful!)
- Belgrade, of course. Has a lot of hotels but no hostels. That's why we started it! :)

Hi everyone,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Angela and I finished my studies as an International Tourism Assistant in Freiburg, Germany, this summer.
The reason I'm interested in Hostels is that I would like to start working in this direction.
Moreover I took a gap year on 2007 for travelling to Australia and Thailand whereby I lived in different Hostels and therefore got a good overview about the quality and features of different Hostels.
I can’t say that I have a favourite travel destination because I like to see the beauty of all countries. To learn about different cultures is what I enjoy the most while travelling.

Hi, my name is Ephi. I stumbled onto this site while looking for electronic locker keys and ended up reading the Starting a Hostel wiki. :D Due to the flexibility of my working hours and arrangement, I can travel more often. I love staying in hostels and upon staying on one in Singapore I am starting to think of opening one.
