Almost 2,500 Forum Members: Introduce Yourself!

At the moment there are over 30 new people signing up for the Forum every week, and it's probably going to reach 2500 registered users sometime next week. It would be great to hear 30 new introductions every week...

If you're new to the site, please take a few minutes to introduce yourself here :)

  • Do you work at a hostel? (you don't have to mention the name of a hostel if you prefer to remain anonymous)
  • How did you become interested in hostels?
  • Where are your favorite travel destinations? (and why)
  • Do you know of any good places where you think new hostels should be opened up?

The Tchaikovsky Hostel Split is a warm and friendly boutique hostel that welcomes travelers from all over the world. It is located downtown, just a few meters from the City Theater and the famous Diocletian palace. Everything that Split offers is a stone´s throw away: restaurants, bars, shops, sights, galleries and much more.

- My name is Tomislav and I am the receptionist at the Tchaikovsky Hostel Split.
- I have graduated in tourism and management so this was a logical step after that :)
- I haven`t travell as much as I would like but I have seen Croatia all over and for me this is the country that everyone should visit at least once.

Hello/ Hola/ 你好！

My name is Clare, I'm a 21-year old student from Manchester, U.K. My degree is Modern Languages (Spanish and Chinese!), which has given me amazing opportunities to explore different countries and cultures. I am currently living in Beijing, and have spent the past year undertaking an intensive course in Mandarin as part of my year abroad. It is soon coming to an end, and I have had an incredible experience. The Terracota Warriors, Shanghai's Pearl Tower, The Great Wall - they all have my name on them!
Now, however, I must concentrate on the second half of my degree, which has suffered greatly under the rise of my Chinese! I was thinking of a way to get some sufficient language practice over the summer (I did not want to spend it doing ANOTHER language course!), so I decided to explore the option of working in a hostel!
I have travelled around Spain myself before, and at each stop I stayed in hostels; I became a fan straight away.
I love the social atmosphere of hostels, and the exchange of different languages and cultures that occurs in them. Everyone is also really helpful and eager to share their travelling experiences with you; it's fantastic that over one beer you can become best friends with someone that has travelled from the other side of the world!
So, if anyone is interested in finding a multi-linguist to work in their hostel over the summer, please send me a message :)
My favourite travelling desinatios... still so many I haven't been to! Of those I have been to...
CHINA! The diversity between each region is absolutely staggering - and there's a lot of it to explore! My favourite place I have been to is Guilin, Guanxi Province. (If you google it, you'll see why.)
Good luck to everyone trying to establish their own hostels! I feel a little bit of a cheat for entering into this thread (since I'm just a mere student looking for a summer job, but hey!), I think it's a fantastic thing to do :)
