Hi,

I worked in hostels for many years and realized that there weren't many resources for people who run hostels or who want to open a hostel. I hope that you enjoy the site and find it useful. If you have any suggestions on how to make the site better, please let me know. My goal is to create a resource that will promote hostels and hostelling, especially in places where hostelling is not as common (e.g., here in the USA). Post in this section to introduce yourself to the other forum users.

Hi my name is Sasha and I'm employee in Fancy hostel (Zagreb-Croatia).The hostel started to work in April.If anyone has any suggestions/advices about how to attract guest's/backpackers how to sell beds or some other advice feel free to contact me cause I'm new in this business and need some help cause I'm trying to develop some skills in this job.The hostel it's self is very pretty, we have 6 room's ,two 4 bed rooms and four six bed rooms, bathrooms bathroom's, kitchen, 24/7 bar and reception, chill-out/movie room.All rooms have air condition and WI-FI.So far our guest's are very satisfied because we are keeping hostel very clean and people appreciate that very much.Also we are great team and we get along very well, that's why guest feel good energy and hospitality when they come.

Hi everyone,

We just opened hostel in Uzice small city in Western Serbia :innocent: . We have 25 beds in 5 bed rooms:one double bed, one triple, two four bed room and one dorm room with 12 beds. We had a good publicity when we started with renovating but we lost season :(( because of artisan who done their work much slower than we taught. However now we are ready to accommodate first guest but nobody is entered in hostel yet.
Hostel for it self is thematically decorated and it follows the theme of of Uzicka republika the first liberated area in World War 2.
Place is nice and spacious with lot of balconies, common kitchen and living room.
Does anyone can give me a tip how to bring first tourists in my hostel.

Hello,

I am from Greece and living on a greek island!

I am interested in opening and running a next generation hostel, something very different than the ones already existing in Greece.

I find this forum very interesting and helpful!

Hi Everyone! :D We are Ben and Sarah Overstreet, a married couple serving in Peace Corps, Paraguay. We are both very experienced travellers and we have decided that we want nothing more than to open a hostel one day near a beach in Florida. Hey Forum,
i have a large house near Hossegor SW France. I would like to turn it into a hostel(20 bed w/garden and swimming pool) however i do not speak french and have no idea where to start with all the legal paper work. Can anyone help?
