Hi,

I worked in hostels for many years and realized that there weren't many resources for people who run hostels or who want to open a hostel. I hope that you enjoy the site and find it useful. If you have any suggestions on how to make the site better, please let me know. My goal is to create a resource that will promote hostels and hostelling, especially in places where hostelling is not as common (e.g., here in the USA). Post in this section to introduce yourself to the other forum users.

Hi everyone!
I am Sophia from Mandalay, Myamnar. My family and I are thinking about opening a hostel in my hometown Mandalay. Despite the recent booming in tourism in my country there aren't any decent hostels as far as I know. Only hotels that are geeting ridiculously pricy after tourists pour in. We want to change that.
I am not a big traveler but i did had some very nice experience being a backpacker. I love the whole idea about hostel and would like to bring it to my country. Your site is a very resourceful place for me indeed! Thank YOU so much for establishing this wonderful site! I hope to contribute more in the future, as our hostel dream comes true!

I'm Petar form Croatia. This summer I manage a new hostel for first time, it was quit an adventure :party: .
Now I'm preparing for next season and I'm glad to find this interesting, educational and helpful site.

Hi, my name is Damien.

Three years ago I was traveling around Europe when I accidentally stumbled upon Zagreb. The hostel I was staying at needed somebody to work & three years later I live in Zagreb & work at the same hostel!

My dream now is to settle down here & open my own place... :)

Hello! My name is Kanat Kapishev. I am the owner of three hotels (25, 80 and 120 rooms from 2 to 4 persons) in Almaty, Kazakhstan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almaty). In April 2014, I planned a trip across the USA, I want to learn more about hostels in the United States for possible partnership. Hi!

I am currently working in a hostel in San Diego, I plan on working there for several months to learn as much as I can of the industry. I actually want to open a hostel as soon as I will be ready and a good opportunity will come up!
I used to work as an engineer for few years, I quit my job so I could focus 100% on my project.

Hi Teddison, welcome to the site! Working in a hostel is a great way to learn about the challenges you're likely to face when you start your own. If you only have several months to gain experience, then make sure to ask a lot of questions (how and WHY you do the things you're supposed to do in the hostel) and take on as many responsibilities as you can handle. Good luck with the project!
