Hi,

I worked in hostels for many years and realized that there weren't many resources for people who run hostels or who want to open a hostel. I hope that you enjoy the site and find it useful. If you have any suggestions on how to make the site better, please let me know. My goal is to create a resource that will promote hostels and hostelling, especially in places where hostelling is not as common (e.g., here in the USA). Post in this section to introduce yourself to the other forum users.

Thank you for the invitation to introduce ourselves! I'm Kimberly:)

Excited to see women here, as my sister and I just started a hostel in Orange County, CA. We're in Garden Grove, a diverse area of OC and home to Little Saigon, the largest Vietnamese population outside of Vietnam. We're close to Disneyland and the Anaheim Convention Center and like to boast that we have some of the best Southeast Asian and Mexican food in the country!

I'm a traveler who's backpacked in over 20 countries, a poet, and an aspiring social entrepreneur (that is, I'd love to implement as many environmental and sustainable practices as possible as our business develops). I'd envisioned opening a hostel for almost 10 years, and it's finally manifested!

We're here to learn as much as we can along the way and share our experiences. We are so grateful for all of the input/experiences/knowledge that folks have shared here.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Martin, and I'm one of those that always loved Hostels and thought/dreamed of starting one for the longer part of my life (a little over half now!). I worked in a few Hostels, as Receptionist in all 3 shifts, as well as work-exchangin and even managing one, in which I also work as the handy man while it we were opening it.

I am at the verge of starting it finally (I will give details when everything is on its way officially) so I though it was good time to start preparing myself before I have to learn on the go.... which is clearly how I will learn most of the stuff anyway.

Long time traveller/ tour guide/ carpenter, jus bought a hostel in inner city Perth, Western Australia. It has been run very poorly but I'm planning to jazz it up before September when the season starts to pick up. Completely new to hospitality so I expect a steep learning curve! Hi Garrick, have a chit chat to Tegan in Wattle Grove, maybe you have time to pop over to Kewdale in July, she has a hostel bunk bed showroom all happening when she receives her first stock. The info she is armed with is vital, anything she don't know she can get from me, I am the designer of the Dallas range and I have persoanlly been in the hostel industry for many years. Hi- I have opened a 120 rooms hostel in Kota, India which I have opened up this year. I have experience of working for Hotel chains so this was something I thought could be a natural ground for me.

I believe there is limited information available in this space. I am looking forward to this joint learning experience.
