Hi,

I worked in hostels for many years and realized that there weren't many resources for people who run hostels or who want to open a hostel. I hope that you enjoy the site and find it useful. If you have any suggestions on how to make the site better, please let me know. My goal is to create a resource that will promote hostels and hostelling, especially in places where hostelling is not as common (e.g., here in the USA). Post in this section to introduce yourself to the other forum users.

Hello everyone! I am so happy to have found this site. I am going to introduce myself and then I am off to read the posts about starting a hostel. I currently live in Canada and am considering a huge move to Thailand. I have found an opportunity there that is of great interest. I could rent out a private home right beside the hostel that is currently empty but furnished and ready, linens and towels and some other small things required. There are 20 large rooms suitable for 3 bunks in each, with a bar, 10 large private double or queen rooms and 6 two bedroom suites with kitchenettes.

I am trying to figure out everything, most of all is this feasible (being successful) in Patong. Would I need a partner or could I do it alone with staff, how many staff would be required, what rates to charge? What is the best way to advertise and get the best return, what rates to charge, what booking system is the best.... I have an extensive customer service/ social services background, have worked in a motel cleaning many years ago, was an accommodations coordinator and host family for international students coming here to learn English and am so excited by this but I also overwhelmed.... Rent is $8,000. CAD/ month and they require 3 months security but are willing to offer 2 free months rent as I get established and accept bookings. There is still some painting that owner is going to do, including the pool getting resurfaced, and that is the reason.

So much to consider....where to begin? Looking forward to chatting with some of you and learning with and from you all. Cheers! Jenny

Hi, it is such a good platform which helps me find the right platform for our business. We are producing different types of RFID pvc card products, such as RFID pvc card, RFID wristband, RFID Epoxy Key Tag, RFID ABS Key Fob, RFID Silicone/Woven Wristband, and PVC business card/gift card/membership card etc.

We have supplied the rfid hotel key card work with different lock brand, such VING, Salto, Beline, Betech, Digi, Onity, Kaba, etc, in the forms of PVC Card, Epoxy Key fob, wristband, and ABS key tag etc. and Also produce the Hotel key card holder, the greeting card etc to hotels.

Hi everyone!!

I am an aspiring hostel owner and hoping for some advice on starting up the business (particularly funding).

I am currently taking an entrepreneur course which has inspired me to follow my dreams. The hostel will likely be in Victoria, British Columbia. Although I really love Costa Rica but concerned about being a foreign business owner there.

Hello everyone!

I am currently in the process of renovating a building in the historic center or Puebla Mexico. It will be a small hostel with great common areas. (I think I have more common areas than bed space hahah) I have no previous experience opening or running a hostel so this resource is a great start. Hope the rest of you are doing well!

In recent years, I began consulting for hostels with the goal of improving guest experience and hostel revenue. My goal is not to become rich with money, but to share my experiences and better the hostel community.
