What kinds of systems does your hostel use to manage reservations and guests?

I think GOMIO offers their branded version of ASSD to US hostels. I've tested the trial version, but not in a live front desk situation.

An interesting thing about Charts is that it looks like they are the people who built the Facebook Hostels application.

So, do I gather that Hostelbook is yet another booking engine, but only available within Facebook? Do hostels register their beds with them, as they do with Hostelbookers etc?

It's a Facebook application which is a program that integrates with Facebook and has access to user profile information. They are using Hostelbookers for the booking engine.

For hostels that are interested, there is now a page about Charts Backpacker. It's part of the hostel front desk software section.

Well.. Is my first post here and I thinkthis tread is so old.
Ì`m a hostel owner. We was working with paper sheets during two years. Recently, I was looking for a hostel front desk system and I`ve downloaded three diferent trial softwares.
First: ACI frontdesk: Is a freeware for Hotels frontdesk. I think that`s it`s not reccomendable for hostels and it`s not intuitive.
Second: PHP resident: I decided to try a system based on PHP language. It`s a Freeware to manage books but dont have a front desk module. Just manage books and It seems like a house rental`s software. It`s easy to manage and very recommendable for those people who has summer houses to rent... Also, PHP languajes is very fast and customizable. But, of course, is not good for hostels front desks.
Third: Hotel System: Payd hotel software. It works in cobol languaje so.. many times.. doesn`t works and definitely is not customizable. I could works good in hostels but needs capacitation from sales team and is a local product of Argentina.
Fourth: Finally, y dowloaded HostelPower of Gomio.com. Is very customizable and, certainly, was thougth by hostels owners or people who knows this job very well. I put the CRP gomio system in my hostel`s web site and they gave me a licence to use it in front desk... it`s friendy and send complete reports. So.. I can`t work on a computers net., for that, We must to buy the Full Version and it cost 3000 euros (Wow!!) So.. it`s too much money in argentina. However.. Front Desk Version is very firendly and you control all movements of money and beds.

You may try to purchase Hostelpower from here, directly from the developers. It is only 800EUR for the unlimited beds edition and even less if you have less than sixty beds.
I think 3000EUR is freakin expensive for any reservation software, regardless the size of a hostel. I'd rather sell this software on a cheap price (IMHO the original site offers good pricing but I haven't seen Gomio's pricing) and make a good marketing campaign for it... selling more for less money is better strategy than selling a few for very expensive. :cool:

aboriginal: Sorry... it was a mystake. The Price for hostel Pwer is just like you wrote. So.. 800 euro is in Argentina like 3800 pesos.

The front page doesn't mention hostels, but the HTML of the page says "hostel reservation software" and the sidebar poll mentions ASSD.
