Приветствую! Тебя тут научат всему, не ссы :d
welcome to the forum, comrade ;)
Да я уж понял :) Пересечемся неоднократно, уверен.;)
Hi,
I worked in hostels for many years and realized that there weren't many resources for people who run hostels or who want to open a hostel. I hope that you enjoy the site and find it useful. If you have any suggestions on how to make the site better, please let me know. My goal is to create a resource that will promote hostels and hostelling, especially in places where hostelling is not as common (e.g., here in the USA). Post in this section to introduce yourself to the other forum users.

Hey,
My name is Tim, I've been around this site a bit and it's great! I've stayed at a bunch of hostels in SA and Europe, my cousin also owns one in ARG, and I just decided to join the forum since I may consider starting a hostel in the next year or two. I'm looking forward to learning a bunch more to help out my cousin on some issues, and maybe open open my own.
Cheers,
Tim

Welcome Tim! Where do you think you might open a new hostel?

Not sure, I'm from South Florida, and the Keys are an absolutely spectacular place, lacking in hostels. There are only hostels down at the end in Key West (very different from the rest of the keys). The reason there are none is that from a transportation perspective, it's hard to get to b/c you need a car (no public transport except for a greyhound or shuttle and everything is along one main long road going from the mainland 100 miles down to key west!)
However, if you could get by that, by making a shuttle to the hostel from the airport/other SF hostels, or some other solution, there is some beautiful diving and snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, and a unique atmosphere down there. I think it would be perfect, but you gotta get over that hurdle first: how to get ppl down there.

Hello ,
My name is Maja and I live and work in Zagreb, Croatia. I'm 25 years old and do not own a hostel either work at one I'm just traveler who likes to stay at hostels :) I started backpacking and hostelling something like 5 years ago and loved it. I'm also on couchsurfing and love that kind of travelling too!
I joined this forum because I'd like to find a job related to hostel management somewhere in Europe.
I graduated at Faculty of business and economics, major Tourism 2 years ago but my current job is not related to tourism, and I want to change that, at least I'll try ;)
Cheers!

Why don't you start to email different hostels with a copy of your CV? If you would like to arrive at the level of hostel manager it would be a good idea to get some experience at the base levels.

Hello to all! I am thinking of opening a hostel in the Hocking Hills region of Southeast Ohio. We get about 1.5 million visitors a year. There are only 5 hostels located in Ohio. Mine would be number 6. I would welcome any advise that you have on topic such as advertising, the best computer program to use, electronic reservations, thoughts on shuttle services due to the lack of public transportation, decorating the building, or just anything that you think might help my business be successful. We are hoping to open in the spring of 2010. Please feel free to give me advise.
Thanks,

Anywhere can be a good location if you know how to promote your hostel :)
