Introduce yourself
Hi,
I worked in hostels for many years and realized that there weren't many resources for people who run hostels or who want to open a hostel. I hope that you enjoy the site and find it useful. If you have any suggestions on how to make the site better, please let me know. My goal is to create a resource that will promote hostels and hostelling, especially in places where hostelling is not as common (e.g., here in the USA). Post in this section to introduce yourself to the other forum users.

Hello everyone;
My name is Carl and I am from Clare Island, which is an island off the west coast of Ireland. My family have operated a small hotel on the island for a long time and I am now planning on converting it into a small hostel. The property is located on a small cliff face above a beach overlooking beautiful clew bay. The island is one of the most beautiful location on the west coast of Ireland with plenty to offer guests from scenery to history and plenty of culture and craic (music and dancing). I have just joined the site and just wanted to say hello.
I would like to see more resources in relation the type of beds that are being used in hostels. Not just the standard type but rather the one which add to the guest’s experience. Also, possibly some recommended room layouts and general furniture and fittings, again things which stand out. I would like to make my place a place to remember as I am sure most people would however some help in brainstorming would be a good help.

See also the start a hostel guide -- there is a section on bunk beds.
If you start a new thread and post your floor plan, people might be able to offer you floor plan tips...

Hi!
My name is Domenica and I am from Sarasota, Florida, USA. I have worked in hostels in Australia and have stayed in them in Europe, Australia, North America, and South America. I am currently in the very early stages of opening my own hostel and have stumbled upon this site. What a great source of information!
