Hi,
I worked in hostels for many years and realized that there weren't many resources for people who run hostels or who want to open a hostel. I hope that you enjoy the site and find it useful. If you have any suggestions on how to make the site better, please let me know. My goal is to create a resource that will promote hostels and hostelling, especially in places where hostelling is not as common (e.g., here in the USA). Post in this section to introduce yourself to the other forum users.

I guess you are far from us in the North of Romania but we do get packers going up through UA and Belaruse on the way to Russia. Who knows we might send you one late this year if one passes through.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Hi all, I'm living in Berlin at the moment but about to head back to Australia. I want to open my own hostel one day, I'm still deciding on where. I like to call my travel 'research' ;) I'm very happy I stumbled across this site, it's already given me lots of information and help! Thanks!

i am considering starting the first real hostel in Bucharest Romania.
i have a strong background in real estate, live and work in Bucharest for 2 years now.
would appreciate any help : business plans etc.

There are actually many hostels in Romania. I think Bucharest has about 10 to 15 hostels.

thanks for the comment - yes if you search the net it appears there are several - but they are not really hostels - only cheap rooms.
as far as i know there are nu real hostels - i.e. big rooms with several beds in each.

There were three hostels from around Romania that attended the Dublin Unconference last month. :)

Hello everyone ,
My name is Mica, I have worked in the hospitality business for the past 10 years !! My boyfriend and I are thinking of opening a hostel in Warsaw , and would like to know if anybody has any tips regarding the proper procedures , since I'm not Polish would appreciate any advise !
Since joining a few months ago , I have probably read every thread on this site ,I couldn't believe the amount of great information available !! Thank you for that ! i hope to be able to help the same way someday !
