Hi Flaco
You may want to search the net for some free software/templates which will assist what your after.
Check out:
http://www.fileguru.com/
Some may be shareware etc. (that means you need to pay a token fee usually ~$20 - $50 USD)
With 33 beds you should manage with a simple spreadsheet template or basic hotel management software. Some of the programs out there are very expensive with ongoing maintenance fees. You defintely don't want that. The features are good but agin expensive and not sure if you will use the features.

Hi Flaco:
A spreadsheet system can certainly do what you want, and if you are familiar with spreadsheets you can tinker with it and improve it to do exactly what you want. But when you want to send your data to booking engines, or send vacancy tables to your website, you may find it hard going to do that easily.
Do please take a look at Open Door, which is designed for small hostels and will do the same as a spreadsheet will do, and it is designed not to have loads of features which you don't need. Its biggest advantage over a spreadsheet is its ability to send data to other systems (eg a financial package, or a booking engine) provided those systems are set up to receive data. There is a charge, but it is not expensive, and I am happy to give you 6 months free trial to make sure it does what you want. It does take some time and effort to set up, but so does a spreadsheet. Once set up, everything is on your own computer under your control, and there are definitely no maintenance fees!

HostelTraveler.com has now released the latest version (2.1) of it's XML API. Now HostelTraveler.com (Instant World Booking) offers a full-feature XML API which allows hostels to:
•Get Calendar Availability/Allocations
•Set Calendar Availability/Allocations
•Retrieve Bookings
HostelTraveler.com's API allows virtually any 3rd party front desk software to interface their calendar availability and reservations with HostelTraveler.com. For more information, and how to get started, please see:

We are in the process of picking a front desk system. I have downloaded about six different types and now my head is fried!
Can anyone help?
I want a fully integrated system that interacts with all the various bookers, and as a room is sold it takes it off all the sites at the same time
I have looked at
ASSD- too expensive for me but looks excellent
BPO- works well but no integration-
Myallocator -I love the concept but cant bolt it on to BPO
Hostelmate-Hostelmanagerware-Jury still out
we have 100 beds or 31 rooms (happy to pay a fair monthly price for best system)
Can you end this agony and recommend the perfect system?- Hostel world don't like integration!-Pity
Thanks

We'll have our new PMS, Hostel Key ready to go in January that has the features that you are looking for, and a few more, if you can wait a couple of months.
Out of curiosity, what would you consider a fair monthly fee considering the size of your hostel and your location?

Sounds Great!
is this a brand new system or is it an old system upgraded?
What sort of money will you charge?
Thanks

Seems to me the problem with a lot of these things is that they don't integrate with Hostelworld. I'd be interested to know which systems do have HW integration. A lot of them seem to have many different BE compatability, some of which are pretty small, but not HW. We use BPO and have a booking portal from HW on our own website. Bookings that go through that link get our 10% refunded by HW. It works well for us, but then we never had many bookings from outside HW anyway. Other's experience may be totally different.
